The new European data protection legislation called EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force on May 25, 2018 and replaces the Data Protection Directive from 1995. This is a step forward to a transparent collection and use of personal data. Although, our Firm is based in Switzerland and active in Swiss jurisdiction, we have clients that are citizens of the EU countries. Therefore, the regulatory changes in this area are important, and a full compliance with the new GDPR rules is a priority for us.
